Roopkund Lake, Uttarakhand - A Mystery Frozen in Time

Roopkund lake or the Lake of Skeletons, as infamously known, is a glacial lake at an uninhabited place nestled between rock-strewn glaciers and snow-clad mountains at an altitude of 5029m above sea level. Nobody could have anticipated a mass grave of 300-400 skeletons lying at the bottom of the lake at such a high altitude, completely unsuitable for living conditions. Scientists are baffled, trying to date the skeletons and finding out the cause of their deaths. Just like this frozen lake, the mystery of skeletons is also frozen in time.
